Our Beginning
Our aquarium fish rescue opened back in 2001 in Hillsboro, Oregon.
The idea was to take in unwanted aquarium fish, make sure
they were healthy then sell them to new homes
where they would be cared for.
As I advertised the service, it caught on quickly and soon people were calling
me “The Portland Fish Guy” or "PDX Fish Guy".
After establishing working relationships
with local Petco and PetSmart stores, the “Fish Rescue” began to
take off and was soon paying for my aquarium addiction. What I didn't
realize at the time was just how much I would come to love the business.
We now have a location in Aloha, Oregon where we continue our focus on education
while providing our rescue service, as well as aquarium sales and maintenance.
When you visit, you will find fish foods, and supplies. You will find a
growing selection of both fresh and saltwater fish. You will also find
that we are friendly and love to talk about aquariums. We want to learn
from you and try to teach you something new each time you visit!

Our Future
Our shop is unlike others you may have visited. It is primarily a fish
rescue and an education center.
It is our goal to one one day open a public aquarium here in the Portland area. This Public Aquaria will be designed in such a way as to contain almost exclusively, animals
that you might find in a home or office aquarium.
These would be displayed in large aquariums that are designed to
mimic the animals natural habitats. There will be educational information about the habitats
and proper care for all of the animals found within. At the end of the tour you will pass through an aquarium
store where you can purchase or order any of the plants, fish, corals, etc. that you saw while going
through the aquaria, or even have our technicians deliver, setup and even aquascape your tank for you!
Obtaining this dream requires the steady and consistent growth of our customer base, and the support
of everyone who is interested in helping us to obtain this goal. If you are
interesting in helping us to reach our goals by volunteering your time or by donating to
the aquaria project, please email us.
